Self 👏🏾 care 👏🏾 is 👏🏾 not 👏🏾 just 👏🏾 for 👏🏾 Sundays!

Whew, glad I got that out. How many of us have seen, or even participated in, the "Sunday Reset" or "Self Care Sundays" posts? I'm pretty sure we all have at one point or another. I'm just here to remind you, self-care does not have to be a reward reserved for just one day.

You can practice self care and reset every single day if you so choose, I even encourage it! Y'all, hear me when I say, self care does not have to be difficult and with the way the economy is ever-changing, we need to be intentional about what we pour into ourselves to stay balanced in this world we live in.

Since you're here, let's look at the numbers.

Since the pandemic over 72% of people have admitted to taking their mental wellness more seriously, I love that for us! But, the majority of people wait to perform an elaborate self care routine as a part of a weekly treat, like it's something to be earned. Additionally, 52% of Americans report financial stressors to their inability to perform adequate self-care. So you mean to tell me y'all are reserving taking care of you down to one day when you pour into other daily? Not only that, you're saying you can't afford to take care of yourself but you scrolled on social media for 2 hours, thus spending one of our most precious forms of currency, time. The math ain't mathin'.

Holistic self-care is simply anything you do to refill, replenish, and restore you back to your natural balance catering to your mind, body, and soul. It is not something that has to be earned, being in balance is something we should all be able to accomplish daily. I know you've heard the saying "you can't pour from an empty cup"; well that's what not taking care of yourself is, trying to give when there's nothing left to give.

Avoid burnout and pour into you with these 3 easy ways to make any day a self care day.

1. Start your day with mindfulness

Begin each morning with a few minutes of mindfulness practice. This could include deep breathing exercises, meditation, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the present moment. Setting a positive tone for the day can help you stay grounded and focused amidst daily challenges.

2. Prioritize physical activity

Incorporating some form of physical activity into your daily routine is a great way to care for your body and mind. Whether it's a brisk walk, yoga session, or a quick workout, moving your body can boost your mood, increase energy levels, and reduce stress. Find an activity that you enjoy and make it a daily habit.

3. Schedule time for relaxation

Carving out time for relaxation is crucial for self-care. Whether it's reading a book, taking a warm bath, listening to music, or engaging in a hobby you love, make sure to set aside moments in your day to unwind and recharge. Prioritizing relaxation can help you feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle whatever comes your way.
Making every day a self-care day is essential for maintaining overall well-being and reducing stress. Start taking care of yourself, today.
